The real estate developer, Robert Marsh, paid for the construction of the Los Angeles and Mount Washington Railway to serve a residential sub-division and hotel that he had built at the top of Mount Washington. This railroad opened 05/ 24/1909. A Mission Revival depot at the foot of the line still stands. It operated for ten years.
