The school's site was bounded by Fourth Street on the north, J Street on the south, and Vine Avenue on the west. This school's entrance was oriented south, toward J Street.

This middle school was renamed for Vina Danks, a long-time teacher and the first Principal of the Ontario Middle School, who died of a heart attack following serious floods in Ontario, CA, in 1938. The first Danks Middle School was demolished c. 1974 because it was built before the California in the Field Act of 1933, and did not meet current seismic codes for schools at that time. The disastrous Long Beach Earthquake occurred in 1933 and spurred legislation on seismic upgrades.

Demolished c. 1974; the new Vina Danks Junior High School was built on the same school property where athletic fields once were.
