The Physics Lecture Hall was located west of the Main Quad across Lomita Drive.

Building History

San Francisco architect Gardner A. Dailey (1895-1967) did a handful of buildings for higher education, this lecture hall being one. He did two others at Stanford--the Russell H. Varian Physics Laboratory (1964) and the Jack A. McCullough Building (1965), as well as multiple buildings at the University of California--Berkeley and the University of California--Davis.

Building Notes

The Physics Lecture Hall was known colloquially as the "Physics Tank" as its round form resembled an aquarium tank on the exterior.

Demolition

The Physics Tank was demolished in 1997, to make room during the Near West Campus redevelopment of the new Science and Engineering Quad (SEQ).
