Building History
The San Francisco firm of Howard and Galloway, Architect and Engineer, designed a four-story building for the beet-sugar magnate, Claus Spreckels (1828-1908). John Galen Howard (1864-1931) became well-known on the West Coast as the founder of the Department of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley.
