An early pastor (1919-c.1954) at this church was named Hein; his son, Herbert Hein, went on to found Hein Restaurant Furniture, a significant builder of custom furniture for restaurants and residences on the West Coast.

University of Washington Department of Architecture Professor, Folke Nyberg, and his students designated this building as "significant to the city" in a survey of Seattle's historic architecture conducted in 1975.
