Construction of this temple, based on architecture of the Chinese Ming (1268-1644 C. E.) and Ching (1644-1911 C.E.) Dynasties, took 10 years to construct. Buildings and gardens occupied 15 acres in 2010.
Worshipers at this temple practiced Humanistic Buddhism, a part of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order. Hsing Yun founded the Fo Guang Shan Order in 1967 in Taiwan.
