The Boyd and Poncin Building was originally located on Front Street, what was renamed 1st Avenue in the early 1890s.

Overview

W.P. Boyd and G. Poncin, dry goods merchants, did not work together too long in the 1880s. Their store stood at 623 Front Street in 1882, but the business was known as "W.P. Boyd and Company" by 1884. At the later date, the Boyd Company occupied a building called "The Arcade," on Front Street. (See "W.P. Boyd and Company ad," Seattle City Directory, 1884, p. 245.) Seattle had four dry good retailers in 1882 and seven by 1884, according to the city directory.

Demolition

The store was lost in the devastating Seattle Fire of 06/06/1889.
