Building Notes
The Engineering News reported in its issue of 10/05/1916: "Wash., Seattle--High School--School Bd. let contract West Seattle High School to JENKINS & JONES, Hinckley Bldg., $196,600." (See "Buildings: Bids in and Contracts Awarded," Engineering News, vol. 76, no. 14, 10/05/1916, p. 182.) Jenkins and Jones served as the building contractor for the West Seattle High School.
Muralist Jacob Elshin painted a mural triptych for the school's main hallway in 1939; it was vandalized in the 1970s, stored in an art classroom, and restored to a new location in the school library in 2002;
Alteration
The high school experienced a renovation and an addition completed in 09/2002; the restoration cost was $53.2 million;
