This small office building served as the Smith and Williams offices from 1959-1973 as well as the office of the great, modern landscape designer, Garrett Eckbo; the building received an Award of Excellence for Design from the Pasadena and Foothill Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1959; it is also listed by the Southern California Chapter of the AIA as one of the most significant examples of Los Angeles architecture constructed between 1947-1967;
Threatened with demolition by the South Pasadena Unified School Board as part of a school expansion plan in 2003;
