House designed for Evrett Lobban Cord, (1894-1974), the head of the Auburn Automobile Company, Auburn, IN, the maker of the Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg automobiles; Auburn was in business from 1900-1937, Cord leading the company during the 1920s and 1930s; in the late 1930s, there was a Cord model called the "Beverly";
