The Los Angeles Public Library Location #1 occupied 6,700 square feet in the Los Angeles City Hall until 03/1906; it then moved to a second location with 20,000 square feet and a 6,000-square-foot roof garden between 1907-1908. By 07/01/1908, the downtown library moved a third time to 31,000 square feet on the third floor of the Hamburger Department Store Building.
