The Saint Francis de Sales Church #1 was located on Grove Street (later renamed Martin Luther King, Jr., Way) in Oakland, between Hobart and 21st Streets.

Overview

This first church of Saint Francis de Sales in Oakland, CA, served as both a church and school. The church operated on the second floor, with the school on the first. As a church, it was in service only six years, between 1887 and 1893, when the second Saint Francis de Sales opened at 2100 Grove Street, (later renamed Martin Luther King, Jr., Way).
