Building Notes
According to theLos Angeles Times, the Pierce Brothers and Company Building was, "The first chapel to be devoted exclusively to funeral services ever constructed on the Pacific Coast...." (See "First on Coast," Los Angeles Times, 08/04/1912, part VI, p. 3.) It was a brick building plastered in the Mission Style; the chapel had seating for 200, that could be increased to 400.
