Plans for this house received an AIA award c. 1930; Thomas financed his dwelling himself; the house cost 45 cents per cubic foot to build.

Sabin worked with an existing basement and foundation when he sited this house. Care was made to preserve mature pepper and oak trees that existed on the property.
