In 1929, H.L. Sherman, a Balboa Island resident, donated books to stock a new public library; the new Newport Main Library had its dedication in late 05/1929; the 2,200-square-foot facility set in East Newport Park, cost approximately $7,000. When the Newport Center Branch Library opened in 01/1980, this building was renamed the "Balboa Branch Library."

Tel: (949) 644-3076 (2010); this venerable, low-rise, Spanish Colonial building has served citizens of Newport Beach since 1929.
