Carl Laemmle (1938) established Universal Studios in 1915 on the acreage of the Taylor Poultry farm; over the years, he acquired additional acreage; in 1935, Laemmle sold the parcel to International Pictures and the film studio became Universal-International (U-I); the Music Corporation of America, under Lew Wasserman, bought U-I for $11.25 million in 12/1958; subsequently, the land was known as Universal City Studios;
