The Cedar Falls facility, the first municipally-owned hydroelectric plant in the US, began generating light for Seattle institutional customers 01/10/1905; (residential customers first received power later in 09/1905); on 03/04/1902, voters had approved a $500,000 bond for construction of the plant; Seattle residents approved funding for the plant to create competition for the privately-owned Puget Sound Traction, Light and Power Company, a subsidiary of the national power cartel, Stone and Webster of Boston, MA;
