Building History

Located in the Highlands Tract developed by Joseph L. Eichler (1900-1974) in San Mateo, CA. Sunset Magazine, Living for Young Homemakers, and Arts & Architecture all produced articles on the X-100 Model House; the house supposedly attracted 150,000 visitors to the tract in late 1956. The Los Angeles architect A. Quincy Jones (1913-1979) designed the X-100 House for the firm of Jones and Emmons.

Building Notes

The American Institute of Architects, San Mateo County Chapter, held a seminar and building tour of the X-100 Steel-Frame House on 07/17/2017. Eichler Network Director Marty Arbunich, landscape architect J.C. Miller, and interior designer Lucile Glessner spoke at this event.
