Overview
The Peralta Park Hotel was completed in 1889, the brainchild of actor and real estate developer Maurice B. Curtis (c. 1850–1920). Curtis's grand plans of creating a residential sub-division anchored by a large resort hotel in Berkeley faltered quickly.
The Peralta School in Berkeley, a school for girls, began its 1892-1893 year on 08/09/1892. (See Peralta School advertisement, Sacramento Daily Union, vol. 83, no. 141, 08/03/1892, p. 3.)
