The Cascade Theatre closed for movie presentation in 1997, and was subsequently bought by Jefferson Public Radio; the Cascade is a State of California Historic Landmark; in 2001, the JPR Foundation, Inc., of Ashland OR, received a $5,000 grant from the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Fund for Historic Interiors to document the historic significance of the Cascade Theatre; the theatre seated approximately 1,350 when built; in recent years, it has served as a community performing arts center.

The Art Deco Society of California presented the Cascade Theatre a Preservation Award, 03/18/2000.
