John Drew owned the State Theatre in 1939; it was built on the site of the demolished Belvedere Theatre in Pomona, CA, and was to contain 800 seats with a fully equipped stage; a notice in the 03/01/1940 issue of the Southwest Builder and Contractor indicated that Clifford A. Balch was the architect of the State. It opened on 03/28/1941.
