Building History

A General Services Administration web site stated about the building's Federal tenants in 2019: "Major tenants are GSA, U.S. Department of Transportation, and U.S. Department of Education. In the latest (2016) Tenant Satisfaction Survey, 83% rated the federal building and GSA services four or five on a five-point scale." Building Notes

The 50 UN Plaza Federal Office Building was a contributing building in the San Francisco Civic Center National Historic Landmark District, but was listed on its own under two criteria--A and C--in 2017.

Alteration

An renovation project, supervised by HKS Architects, Incorportated, finished in 2013. "Renovations included environmental remediation; new mechanical, electrical, lighting, and plumbing systems; roof replacement and refurbishment of existing historic wood windows; and restoration of the historically significant interiors and central courtyard as well as redesign of office interiors."
