In the sub-division developed by the Walter H. Leimert Company; this was the first of eight four-family dwellings and eight duplexes designed by Milton J. Black in Leimert Park in 1937; the total land and construction cost of the sixteen units was set at $248,000; the Leimert Park neighborhood was roughly bounded by Crenshaw and Leimert Boulevards and Santa Barbara Avenue, now known as West Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard.

"Leimert" is pronounced "Luh-MERT."
