Building History

The Abernethy, Clark and Company Wharf erected this wharf beginning in 03/1853 in San Francisco, CA. In 1854, the wharf extended from Stewart Street 137 feet east into San Francisco Bay and was 60 feet in width. At low tide, the waterline was 12 feet deep. James R. Pascal was the wharfinger, or wharf keeper, at that time. (See LeCount and Strong's San Francisco City Directory for the Year 1854, p. 177.)
