Overview
The Southern Pacific Railroad Company operated a station on Butler Road to serve passengers and the Shaw-Batcher Shipyward located nearby. The station's shelter operated roughly between 1926 and 1983. Butler Road was later renamed "Oyster Point Boulevard."
Building Notes
According to a 1944 Southern Pacific timetable, the Butler Road stop received eleven route stops of the San Francisco to San Jose line. The trains arriving at Butler Road included the 110 (daily except Sunday), 112 (daily), 114 (daily), 116 (daily except Sundays and holidays), 118 (daily), 174 (Sundays and holidays), 124 (daily except Sundays and holidays), 126 (daily except Sundays and holidays), 176 (Sundays and holidays), 128 (daily except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), 130 (daily except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), 178 (Saturdays and holidays) and 106 (daily). The one-way fare was 22 cents and round-trip 39 centers from San Francisco ($3.96 monthly), and the trip took about 15 minutes. The Butler Road stop was about 1 hour and 21 minutes from San Jose.
