In 03/1886, three firms competed for the design of the Los Angeles City Hall #2: R.B. Young, Boring and Haas and Kysor and Morgan. Boring and Haas won the competition, and Young's plans remained unbuilt. (See “City Hall Plans,” Los Angeles Times, 03/24/1886, p. 4.)
