Overview

This load-bearing masonry building stood at the junction of Montgomery and California Streets. It stood four stories tall, completed in mid-1850. Unfortunately, the very large San Francisco Fire of 05/03-04/1851 consumed it. This second United States Custom House was replaced by a temporary building located near the intersection of Washington and Kearny Streets.
