Overview
This notable Streamline Modern motel operated in Placerville, CA, beginning in the 1930s. Apartments stood on the second floor, while garages occupied space under guest rooms.
Building History
In 1949, J. Raffetto, Jr., managed Placerville, CA’s Ivy Motel, located at 595 Main Street.
Building Notes
According to the San Diego State Library.edu, there also was an Ivy Motel that operated in Auburn, CA. (See San Diego State University Library Digital Collections.edu, "Ivy Motel, Placerville, California" postcard, accessed 03/17/2025.)
The Streamline Moderne styling, popular during the 1930s and early 1940s, appeared to be a unified facade put in front of perhaps pre-existing, separate, wood-frame buildings with gabled and hipped roofs.
Demolition
The Ivy Motel was razed.
