Overview
The R and S Building stood on Main Street opposite the Court House in 1883. (See Los Angeles City Directory, 1883, p. 29.) The R and S Building was one of only sixteen business blocks listed in the Los Angeles City Directory, 1883. A building boom in the city during the mid-1880s would greatly multiply the number of business buildings existing in the city.
