In 1856, Doctor Bourne's Pioneer Water Cure Institute shared the same building on the southeast corner of Sansome and Commercial Streets, as J.C. Eddy's San Francisco Clothing Store. The store occupied the first floor, with the Bourne Institute using the upper three.
