Building History
The magazine the American Architect, noted in its issue of 08/09/1911: "Architects Roberts & Roberts, Abington Bldg., is preparing plans for $4,000 residence on East Seventeenth and Wasco streets for H.R. Litcher." (See "Building News: Oregon," American Architect, vol. C, no. 1859, 08/09/1911, p. 12.) Unfortunately, no one by the name H.R. Litcher appeared in the Portland city directory at about this time, so either the name was misspelled in the American Architect or the residence was not completed.
Roberts and Roberts existed for about two years, 1910 and 1911, and was operated by the real estate man and building contractor William Andrew Roberts (1856-1926) and his two sons, both of whom worked as architects, Bruce W. Roberts (1882-1968) and Earl A, Roberts (1886-1939).
