Building History
The huge, Los Angeles architectural firm of Welton Becket and Associates, designed the Avco Financial Center office tower for the Balboa Insurance Company (a subsidiary of Avco) in the very early 1970s. Becket collaborated with the Los Angeles engineering consultancy, James A. Knowles and Associates, Incorporated on the used of Thermopane glass produced by the Libbey-Owens-Ford Company of Toledo, OH. The glazing contractor was Golden State Glass Company of Los Angeles.
