Architect Edith Northman (1893-1956) designed this two-story, six-room house to reflect Danish precedents; it had a half-timbered exterior, steeply-pitched cross-hipped roof, arched dormers and a dining alcove in the living room rather than a separate room, typical of Danish farmhouses. The dining alcove featured timbered interior beams, paneled and plastered walls, and built-in seating areas. The dwelling's plan was U-shaped, formed around an entry court. The residence was built in a former walnut grove; it contained 2,100 square feet and cost approximately $7000.
