Building History

The Old National Bank succeeded the Pacific Bank, amd began operations on 01/04/1892. In 1893, it had authorized capital of $500,000, and capital paid in of $250,000. S.S. Glidden served as its president, while George W. James acted as the cashier. (See R.L. Polk and Company's Spokane, Washington, City Directory, 1893, p. 81.)

In 1893, the Old National Bank operated on the southwest corner of Howard Street and Main Avenues, later known as North Howard Street and West Main Avenue.

Building Notes

The Old National Bank had a "Ladies' Department," c. 1908, a curtained corner of the banking room that had a table and fireplace for female customers. (See "Ladies' Room, Old National Bank, Spokane," Western Architect, 09/1908, n.p.)
