Building History

Architect Kirtland Cutter (1860-1939) designed this residence for the Portland plywood manufacturer, Thomas John Autzen (1888-1958). Autzen's Portland Manufacturing Company engineered news ways to mass-produce plywood and other laminated wood products. Autzen's name was applied to the University of Oregon's football stadium, Autzen Stadium, his son's alma mater.
