Overview
Almira Hershey left $300,000 to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), for the purpose of erecting a women's dormitory. Completed in 1931, it served 137 female students as a residence hall until a new wing was added in 1959, increasing the capacity to 327. In 1998, when administrators remodeled it to serve as classroom and office space.

Architect Douglas McLelland designed Mira Hershey Hall.
In 2012, Mira Hershey Hall was converted to serve the Department of Life Sciences South Administration Building.
Alteration
A West Wing tp this women's dorm was added to Hershey Hall in 1959; the wing became used as a men's dorm from 1969 until 1998. In the latter year, the building was converted to classroom and office usage. Mira Hershey Hall's West Wing was razed in 2006 to make room for the construction of the Terasaki Life Sciences Building.
