Nordstrom bought the womenswear Best Apparel chain on 08/06/1963, and by 01/1964 operated larger "Nordstrom Best" stores that also featured clothing. (Nordstrom also bought the Portland, OR-based, Nicholas Ungar, in 01/1966.) Nordstrom opened this new store in a space next to the existing Nordstrom Shoe Store at Northgate when the shopping center greatly expanded in 1965.
