Building History

In 1926, a variety of automobile dealerships and auto parts and repair garages clustered in the 400-600 block of Alma Street and on the nearby blocks of High Street and Emerson Street in Downtown Palo Alto. McClatchie's Chrysler Agency operated at 525 High Street in 1926. (See R.L. Polk and Company's Palo Alto, California, City Directory, 1926, p. 318.) Other automobile businesses operated nearby:the City Garage stood at 529 Alma, Walters and Blangy Dodge Brothers dealership at 439 Alma, Walter G. Bernthal Ford and Lincoln Automobiles dealership at 525 Alma, Oakland Motor Cars dealership at 529 Alma, Stanford Auto Company at 511 Alma, Sullivan Auto Company's Chevrolet dealership at 653 Alma, H.H. Demolition

This one-time automobile dealership was demolished to build a taller office building.
