Building History
The developer Dr. Edwin Janss, Sr., (1882-1959) lived with his wife Florence G. Cluff (1889-1981) and their children Edwin, Jr. and William in this dwelling at 10060 Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, CA, in 1938. (See Beverly Hills, California, City Directory, 1938, p. 68.) Edwin Janss, Sr., was a prominent Los Angeles real estate developer, who continued a family line in the development field. Janss Family developers included Edwin, Sr.'s father Dr. Peter Janss, Jr., (1858-1926), son Edwin Jr., and and nephew William, Jr. Like his father, Edwin also became a physician.
Building Notes
The entrance to the Janss House at 10060 Sunset Boulevard was included in the 1950 film "Sunset Boulevard" directed by Billy Wilder (1906-2002).
