Building History

The Saint Mathew's congregation moved to this new location in 1953, moving its previous church with it to this new site. The congregation commissioned the rising West Los Angeles architectural firm of Jones and Emmons to design a new sanctuary.

Building Notes

The Southern California Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded the Saint Matthew's Church #2 in Pacific Palisades a citation in 1954.

Demolition

The Mandeville Canyon Fire that began on Monday, 10/23/1978, destroyed Saint Matthew's Church #2. (See LA Conservancy.org, "St. Matthew's Episcopal Church," accessed 11/01/2018.)
