Building History
In 1956, the expert skiier and President of Hannes Scholl and Company, Hannes Schroll resided on a farm off of Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, CA. (See Palo Alto, California, City Directory, 1956, p. 498.) In 1956, Hannes Schroll and Company focused on cattle sales. Schroll worked with Sanford W. Small, treasurer, and Morse Erskine II, secretary. (See Palo Alto, California, City Directory, 1956, p. 498.)
Schroll established the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in Norden, CA, in 1937, with several other investors. The ski lodge was designed by the San Francisco architect William W. Wurster.
