Zimri Lorain Garwood (born 12/08/1817 in Warren, OH-d. 12/24/1898 in Santa Clara County, CA) owned this building at 147-151 J Street in 1861. Z.L. Garwood lived on I Street between 8th and 9th Street. (See Sacramento, California, City Directory, 1861, p. 48.)

Building Notes

The architect Seth P. Babson (c. 1826-1907), who had a long and successful career in CA, maintained his office in the Garwood Building in 1861. (See Sacramento, California, City Directory, 1861, p. 4.)
