In 1866, the Sacramento Public Schools' Primary School #2, a wooden structure, operatedon P Street, between 2nd and 3rd Street with 180 students. Miss M.A. Keegan was the principal at this time. (Sacramento, California, City Directory, 1866, p. 29.)
