Building History

The Sacramento, California, City Directory, 1866, (p. 28), indicated that a school was opened in an existing building at the corner of F Street near 10th Street, soon after the establishment of the first Sacramento Public School in 02/1854. A woman by the name of M.S. Corby was its first principal. It was likely established by 1855 or 1856.
