Building History

The Supervising Architect of the US Treasury James A. Wetmore designed the Federal Immigration Station and Assay Office in Seattle in 1929. Construction occurred between 02/1930 and the end of the year 1931. Its construction corresponded with the early days of the Depression. and was likely an important construction project in the city. Eivind Anderson of Tacoma, WA, won the bidding to erect the station for $517,588.
