Building History
Seattle architect Benjamin F. McAdoo, Jr., (1920-1981) designed this Modern apartment house for Liep and Keong Go in 1959. Construction was set to begin in 12/1959 and would conclude the following year. McAdoo worked with building contractor Donald N. McDonald, Jr., on the Go Apartments.
The Seattle Sunday Times reported in its issue of 12/13/1959: "This ten-unit apartment house will go under construction the latter part of this month at 1540 12th Av. S. for Liep & Keong Go. The building was designed by Benjamin F. McAdoo, architect, to provide a 1,000-square-foot owners' apartment and nine one-bedroom units. Donald N. McDonald is the general contractor. Financing is through the Coast Mortgage Co. A large car shelter for off-street parking will be provided. Features include hardwood floors, ceramic-tile baths, electric baseboard heat. Some units will have a view. Storage space in the units and the basement is planned. The building will be completed in May." (See "Construction to Start," Seattle Sunday Times, 12/13/1959, Real Estate Section, p. 6.)
