Building History

A frame church dedicated to Saint Mary was built at the corner of 4th Street and Delta Avenue in Marysville, WA, in 1901, and operated for about 65 years, before the parish outgrew the facility. In 1966, construction began on this new, larger facility at 4200 88th St. NE. The congregation's website said of its new church: "By the 1960's, the parish had outgrown the original building, and parishioners began focusing on a new site. On December 11, 1966, the groundbreaking took place for our current facility, and St. Mary's was ready to begin serving the 500 parish families in September, 1967, from the new complex. At the present time there are more than 1,400 families in our parish." (See St Mary Parish and St. Anne Mission.org, "Our History History of St. Mary Catholic Church," accessed 08/17/2023.)
