Building History

Architect William D. Van Siclen (1865-1951) designed this small Spanish Colonial bungalow for a triangular property bounded by West 18th Street on the south, Old Military Highway on the west and West Washington Street on the east. He lived here with his wife Ida for about 25 years, until his death.

A two-floor, Spanish Colonial apartment building, of approximately the same vintage, stood to the northwest of the Van Siclen House on the same triangular plot. This building may have been designed by Van Siclen as an investment property.
