The Bullier Building stood at 420-426 SW Washington Street.

Building History

The Bullier Building contained six stories, the first floor of which housed three storefronts. The upper five floors accommodated offices. The architecture of the top five floors retained its original 1906 styling.

JB Equities IV, LLC, of Tacoma, WA, owned the building in 2023. (From the Multnomah County Assessment, Recording and Taxation.gov, "Portland Maps for 420 SW Washington Street," accessed 07/10/2023.)

Alteration

In 2019, the first-floor facade of the Bullier Building was notable. It had been renovated likely sometime during the period 1935-1950 with maroon colored Vitrolite (or a similar material) skin. The entryway to the offices at 420 SW Washington still retained its rounded glass-block and clear-glass window and a small Streamlined aluminum canopy that projected above the doorway and window. Kelly's Olympian Bar possessed two intact neon signs in green that contrasted nicely with the maroon Vitrolite. One was above the front window and front door and the other was a blade sign hanging to the west of the doorway. The lettering of the Bullier Building and its 420 address numerals were also metal and period correct.
