In 01/1937, real estate broker Maurice Cecil Gomberg (born 02/09/1903 in New York, NY-d. 12/03/1954 in Los Angeles County, CA) bought the apartment tower at 634 South Gramercy Place from the Investors Syndicate for $350,000. The Los Angeles Times said of the rsale of the eight-story, Class A property: "The structure, one of the largest and most prominent in the city, has a subterranean garage and penthouse with roof garden and is modern throughout. The purchaser intends to remodel the lobby and add to the furnishings." (See "This Large Building Sold," Los Angeles Times, Pt. V, 01/17/1937, p. 2.)
